Canary Wharf Crossrail Station

London’s Canary Wharf Crossrail Station, which is due to open in 2018, is part of the biggest construction project in Europe. The station, which is designed to look like a ship, has already won international acclaim for its innovative engineering and design.

Built in 10m deep dock water, the site required a specially constructed cofferdam for which PPS manufactured and supplied over 200 piles.

In 2009, we delivered 125 anchor piles weighing 7.8 tonnes each and 118 ship impact piles weighing 4.8 tonnes each to the construction site in Central London. After all of the piles were installed, 98 million litres of dock water were pumped out of the cofferdam – enough dock water to fill 40 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
